Does My Dog Need A Behavior Modification Program?

Do you have a reactive dog? Does your dog bark or lunge at other dogs or people?

Do you have a dog that resource guards? Does your dog have trouble giving up food or toys?

Does your dog snap or growl at you or others?

Is your dog fearful when out and about or at the vet or groomer?

Does your dog get worked up or frantic easily?

Does it seem to take your dog forever to calm down?

If you’re seeing any of these behaviors, a dog behavior modification consultation is a great place to start helping your dog!

Dog Behavior Modification

Our dog behavior modification consultations focus on dogs with big feelings!

During these dog behavior modification appointments, we work with fearful dogs, aggressive dogs, frustrated dogs, over aroused dogs, and more! Our dog behavior modification training centers around helping your dog’s underlying feelings about difficult situations while also teaching them new behaviors. Our goal is to give you the tools so that you can guide your dogs to a better, more appropriate response while helping them feel better about the situation.

Fearful Dog Behavior Modification

We help dogs who may shy away from you and/or others; dogs who hide from visitors or even people they know; dogs who bite, bark, and/or growl at people or other dogs; dogs who shut down or otherwise have a hard time at the vet or groomers; and more!

Aggressive Dog Behavior Modification

We help dogs that resource guard a variety of things (including food, toys, space, their bodies, or people); dogs who bite or growl at family members or others; dogs who aggressively jump, mouth, and/or bark; and more!

Frustrated Dog Behavior Modification

We help dogs that can often be seen barking at windows, fence fighting with other dogs, jumping on visitors, or barking and lunging on leash towards people, dogs, or other animals.

Over Aroused Dog Behavior Modification

We help dogs who can’t seem to calm down at times and who easily ramp up into behaviors like nipping, jumping, mouthing, and/or barking.

Our Methodology

Our Dog Behavior Modification Consultations focus on helping your dog where they’re at. Our goal is not to push your dog over threshold as we don’t want to stress your dog out further! In fact, our goal is that we don’t witness the problem behavior at all. Good dog behavior modification should strive to work in situations that slowly approach the ones you see your dog having a hard time with and their pacing should be based on the success and body language of the dog. That way, by the time we get to the hard situation, your dog already has a background and will have a better idea of what we want them to do!

Our Dog Behavior Modification Consultations all start by getting a thorough background on your dog that includes what you’re seeing and when you’re seeing it. From there, we work together to set up a management plan that works with your household to ensure that your dog isn’t practicing the undesired behavior or continually being overwhelmed by environments they can’t handle at the moment.

In addition to this, we will start working on teaching your dog new behaviors that you can utilize in difficult situations to help your dog make better choices and feel better about situations. These can include things like mat training, relaxation work, recall work, a drop it cue, patterned games, and more combined with counter conditioning and desensitization to help your dog start to feel better about the situation.

It’s kind of hard to write this because what Ginger has done for me & my dog is so big it’s truly hard to fit into words and just overwhelming to think about. I guess it’s pretty much like the proverbial “pebble in the pond” or “ripple effect.” One in home visit with her led to so many positive changes.

I love what they do here. Amazing work with animals that is science based and effective. I would recommend them to anyone!
